2.0 TSI/FSI Engine
The next evolution of VW turbo performance. The 2.0 TSI (TFSI in Audi) combines direct fuel injection with turbocharging for 200 PS and exceptional response. This EA113-based engine powered the Golf GTI Mk5/Mk6, Jetta GLI, and Audi A3/A4/TT.

FSI (Fuel Stratified Injection) sprays fuel directly into the combustion chamber at 110 bar, enabling precise fuel metering, higher compression ratios (10.5:1 vs 9.5:1 on 1.8T), and improved thermal efficiency. The result is 200 PS from 2.0L with better fuel economy than the 1.8T 180PS. The K03 turbo spools quickly due to the efficient combustion.

European Golf GTI Mk5, Audi A3 8P. First production FSI turbo code. Established the platform for subsequent TSI development.
BWA
Updated European variant with revised emissions. Found in Audi A3, TT 2.0 TFSI. Similar to AXX with ECU updates.
CCTA/CBFA
Golf GTI Mk6, Jetta GLI Mk6. Revised FSI with improved PCV system and updated cam follower design. CBFA for PZEV markets.
BPJ

The high-pressure fuel pump is driven by a cam lobe through a bucket-style follower. This follower wears over time and can cause catastrophic HPFP and camshaft damage if neglected. Inspect the cam follower every 20,000 miles - replacement cost is ~$20 vs $2,000+ for pump/cam damage. This is the #1 maintenance item on FSI engines.
Direct injection engines don't wash the intake valves with fuel, causing carbon deposits to accumulate. Symptoms include rough idle, misfires, and reduced power. Walnut blasting is the standard cleaning method every 60,000-80,000 miles. Some owners install catch cans to reduce crankcase oil vapor reaching the intake.
